My fiance and I are looking at houses (either to buy, rent or lease) but we aren’t sure of the difference between renting and leasing a home.

The two terms can be used interchangeably. A lease just means you will rent it for a specified amount of time, usually 6 months or 1 year but it can vary. Even if the house says “for rent” there is probably a lease involved.

Renting and leasing are the same thing.
