I have a apartment for rent. What is the best months to rent in a college town?

I’m a high school soon-to-be senior and I was wondering, what kind of rent can most college students usually afford? This goes out to anyone who has rented an apartment during their years in college, even if you had roommates to split it with. I don’t really know what kind ot range to look for, or even an idea of what others have used, so any information is greatly appreciated.
