My daughter was in rented accomodation and paid her rent monthly by cheque to the landlord. He didn’t cash one cheque and she has now moved to another property. He has found the uncashed cheque and is expecting her to issue another one as the first is out of date. Can he legally do this?

I am thinking about moving to Virginia. How long after bankruptcy discharge do you need to wait to rent an apartment? Does anybody know someone who places property for rent in Hampton Roads area of Virginia?
