How To Break Apartment Lease For Involuntary Job Transfer?

I am currently working in Chicago, Illinois. My employer is forcing me to work in New York, NY. I am 2 months into my 12 month apartment lease. Anyone know of an Illinois clause to break a leasing contract legally?

You will need to keep paying the lease until they release the unit. Try to help them find new tenants. Your employer should pay your extra cost if they are forcing a move. Your landlord has nothing to do with your job situation so don’t need to lose money for your benefit.

First talk to whomever you leased it from & see if they will let you out of the agreement.
