How Should I Handle This Issue On A New Apartment Lease?

I’m moving to a new city in 2 weeks, and my long-distance boyfriend is staying with me for the first month or so to help me move in, get a car etc. He will only be there for short overnight visits after that. Should I mention this to the landlord?
Should my boyfriend be present at the apartment inspection and lease-signing? Or should he be away to avoid questions? I think I may have mentioned this possibility to the landlord before, but I don’t remember.

I would mention to the landlord he may be staying over a few times but he has his own place (or whatever his situation may be) That way if they see someone coming and going from your apartment they wont be suspicious and think you are hiding people – which could get you evicted.
Just be upfront – i have family and friends that stay with me periodically and i let the landlords know when we signed lease info that they would be doing that – they just like to have an idea, and they will appreciate your honesty.
As far as him being there – he can if you want him there for support but if it’s just you on the lease you are the only one who needs to be there. It might be good to introduce him to the manager ahead of time just so they know who to look for.

This all depends on what is indicated in your lease contract. Most contracts indicate that an individual cannot stay in your unit for a certain amount of consecutive days. It is grounds for evictions if they find you have violated this part of your lease agreement. You are better off being up front about your boyfriend and they might make arrangements with you to, maybe, pay an additional amount for that first month. Being honest is better than losing your apartment, having an eviction on your records and owing lots of money for defaulting on your contract.

just tell the land lord you are living there, sometimes they make you pay more to have more people living at one apartment
