How Do You Get Out Of An Apartment Lease?

Last month I signed a 12-month lease for a one bedroom apartment in Toronto. Soon after, everyone started telling me that I lived in the worst area of the city, crime-wise. I did some research and they were right. There is a lot of gang activity, etc. I really, REALLY don’t feel safe here. I know I should have looked into the neighbourhood before signing the lease, but I can’t help that now. Please help me!

look into your contract – may have to give 30 days notice
    and the term fee
    all the best

    you goofed.
If you need to move, talk with your landlord. See what you two can work out. You probably will have to pay him something in order to be let out of the lease.

there is ALWAYS a termination fee when ending a signed contract for an apartment.
