How Do I Get Out Of My Apartment Lease? I Live In Brooklyn And The Apartment Has Constant Leaks Of Dirty H2o.?

I’ve lived in the apartment for over two years and just renewed my lease. Since I’ve moved in there has been constant problems such as leaks in the apartment. Unclean situation that the landlord repeatedly would say has been fixed. Is there a way to break the lease and possibly also have my landlord pay me moving costs?

  1. Loving Wife says:

You will need to document all of your concerns about your problems in the apartment and send your request in written form to the Management company. Make sure you state the only reason why you signed the new lease was because of the promise to fix and repair your problems and list them.
Now if the leaks have caused any mold then you have an easier situation to terminate your lease but you would really need to have mold and it causing you health and breathing issues with Doctors visits and such.
The problem you are going to have is that you signed the second lease for the 2nd year. They are not going to understand why you would do that and have all these problems in your apartment.
If anything they may just waive the termination fee.
